Every month The Guardian asks its readers to send in art based on a different theme. This month’s theme was science. See what came in.
Fan-freakin’-tastic!
35 years ago, George Lucas released his brain child to the world—Star Wars. From a movie that executives thought would flop (so much so that Lucas retained all merchandise rights AND got them to remove the credits from the beginning of the movie) to a multi-billion dollar franchise that is still alive and well today, it’s a one-of-a-kind story.
For all the shit we give him, I can’t thank him enough. Because even though it happened a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, it told us to reach for the stars and never give up hope.
Vor entye, George Lucas. And May the Force Be With You.

He was so impressed with my pilot plot I was surprised by his response yesterday. He got excited about it! Telling me about how deep it is and how he could really see it as a movie or a tv series that could shell out some serious quality. He is not a light critic, the first thing he says to me before I tell him about it is “this better not be goofy, and the artwork better not be all stupid, this better be legit”. So when he was interested and subsequently impressed, I was instantly excited. Plus he is super smart and is big on dark science fiction and psychological thrillers, and has good knowledge on all those hypothetical sciences and theories (I mean he leans over and informs me about how tesseract is an actual theory about four-dimensional space that could be related to wormholes AS we were watching the Avengers in the theatre haha, the kid stays up to ungodly hours of the morning reading about hypothetical science and quantum physics on his ipod touch), so I think it would be awesome to share some of the load with him.
Would you guys be interested in scraps and sketches of my progress? Because I would love to share and get feedback once I’m further along! :)
